Coincident

There are many things to miss about film. Double exposure often spawned new ideas for me. I would shoot a whole roll, wind it back and reshoot with it another day. Double exposure results in plenty of overexposed or incoherent images, but it also allows for at least a few fortunate coincidences.

This new series tries to create the same sense of chance found in analog double exposure, digitally. In these works, a script randomly combines a selection of images from my collection. From there I select and refine the images I find promising. I chose to make this series black and white to weave the various source images together confusing their boundaries and allowing for something new.
